This is the best and most succinct summary that I have read anywhere: “The issue is that using the word ‘democracy’ as the justification to lie to ‘the people’ is a unique form of immorality.”

Thank you. Thank you for putting so succinctly what bothers me about Democrats lying while Trump lies with every breath he takes. I place the problem much earlier, with Russiagate, but I hope this is the “off ramp” others need to end this self-immolation.

Great read, it will be worth watching/listening this from Peter

The most democratic thing Biden could do is to let the cards fall as they may and resign. He will lose after this debate, so the party's best chance is to fight towards another consensus (I doubt they can, but some sliver of hope is better than none.) I certainly was 'shook' by this elder abuse, and I cannot vote for Biden now... although I will never vote for Trump. This is about how many votes can the DNC afford to lose (exactly zero), NOT how many votes Trump stands to gain.

It continues to amaze and sadden me that there are people who are so delusional that they can believe that the way to save democracy is to destroy your opponent. Biden and his regime have made us into a banana republic, almost overnight.

Such a great piece Sam! I think this is probably the best piece I've read on the whole debacle so far. I think ultimately the leadership of the democratic party don't trust the citizens to make the correct call. That's precisely why they are too scared to tell a guy clearly not fit for office that it's time to pack his bags and enter a retirement community. The gamble they're taking is a poor one given Trump has already been elected once over an unpopular democratic candidate and if this keeps up he will be again. They've given people very little room to choose in their voting patterns undermining the entire point of democracy. The democrats should have had an open convention and made this race about ideas, truth and what path they want the country to go down. Trump is weak on all of these things and represents the past clinging on with Biden by its fingertips.

I don't care how old my president is. I want good moral character, great leadership qualities, good cognitive abilities, and a well rounded understanding of policy and governance issues. If you want to figure out who to vote for look at their policies. Btw Project 2025 is a disturbing playbook.

Yes the 2025 project is very disturbing.

Is anyone familiar with the book by Chris Hedges titled American Fascists The Religious Right and Its War on America.

In my opinion the leading edge vector of this war is opus dei

Kevin Roberts the number honcho behind the 2025 project is an opus dei operative/hack. J D Vance is also closely associated with opus dei too - he wrote the foreword for Roberts book.

That having been said this 2019 essay describes the all-inclusive nature of opus dei politics

I will vote for any Democratic nominee to prevent Trump from returning. But if Biden wins, he should resign by the end of January.
